Director of Surgical Technology/Instructor Job at East Mississippi Community College
JOB
Responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the Surgical Technology program. The Director is required to carry a teaching load. A full-time, 12-month contract is required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
1. Responsible for organization, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness; 2. Maintains a professional working relationship with students, faculty, administration, staff and clinical personnel. 3. Assists in the recruitment of students. 4. Participates in college administrative activities as a representation of the department. 5. Maintains records and data needed to establish good accreditation outcomes for the department and for the college. 6. Communicates with professional and state licensure personnel, and national accrediting bodies as needed. 7. Teaches classes and labs as assigned; 8. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the subject; 9. Communicates with students the goals, objectives, and expectations of the course; 10. Assigns learning activities which promote understanding of the course content; 11. Keeps accurate records of attendance and grades and submits all reports and other requested information promptly and accurately; 12. Maintains discipline in the classroom; 13. Attends faculty meetings and other required meetings as prescribed; 14. Meets all classes promptly and regularly and begins and ends class on time; 15. Participates actively in professional development opportunities in the discipline; 16. Maintains required office and class hours; 17. Serves as sponsor and advisor for student clubs and organizations as appropriate; 18. Advises students with class schedules; 19. Serves on college councils and committees as assigned; 20. Effectively communicates with, cooperates with and supports other college personnel in daily activities .
