If yes, apply at New Brighton Care Center! We are currently looking for a Director of Staff Development / Infection Preventionist. New Brighton Care Center is a family-owned facility with a maximum resident occupancy of 57 (13 TCU, 44 LTC) and approximately 60-70 employees. Our smaller size allows you to get to know staff and residents! New Brighton Care Center is easy to get to; located near both 694 and 35W.

*To qualify for this position, you must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Minnesota.

*Experience as a Staff Development and/or Infection Preventionist Nurse in a Long-Term Care Environment is preferred, but not required.

*Additionally, Registered Nurses with knowledge of SNF laws and regulations, and experience with state surveys are encouraged to apply.

Some responsibilities of the position include;

Staff Development:

  • Conduct New Hire Orientation to cover general topics for all departments and position-based training [specifically in nursing]
  • Facilitate in-service and education as required and needed
  • Participate in leadership committees and meetings; AWAIR (A Workplace Accident and Injury Prevention), Infection Prevention, QAPI, etc.
  • Ensure employees hold and maintain required licensures (i.e. RN, LPN, CNA)
  • Create, update, and maintain Job Descriptions facility-wide
  • Manage Relias learning program; ensure employees are up to date
  • Coordinate CPR training and complete N-95 fit testing with employees
  • Act as a back-up to Human Resources in assisting with on-boarding processes; DHS Net-Study Background Checks, I-9, E-Verify, New Hire Paperwork, Interviews, etc.

Infection Preventionist:

  • Track attendance details to monitor employee symptoms and illnesses
  • Maintain resident reports tracking all infections [or potential infections] with detail
  • Encourage and administer staff and resident vaccinations (i.e. COVID-19, Influenza)
  • Organize and complete contact-tracing and COVID testing as needed
  • Record infection control data and submit required reporting
  • Order and manage testing supplies
  • Conduct infection control audits
  • Update and maintain company policies, best practices, and processes, and communicate with necessary parties (i.e. team, residents, visitors, vendors, etc.)
