Job Responsibilities:
The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for a Director of Space Management. The Director of Space Management is responsible for the assessment, planning, management, coordination and reporting of interior space utilization, as well as real property accountability.
- Serving as the system administrator for the Space Scheduling & Planning application (EMS Campus) and provides support to the College’s enterprise resource planning (Banner) software by providing space information and updates to the system.
- Provides ongoing support to campus users of the scheduling and space management system through training, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Works with the Registrar’s Office, Department Chairs, and Directors; recommends solutions that could optimization the scheduling process, utilization of classroom assets, and improve the learning experience for the students.
- Ensures maximum utilization of physical space resources for both academic and administrative units and facilitating location and relocation activities.
- Provide training for EMS Campus “Client Administrators,” “Department Schedulers” and ensure Virtual EMS and Camps CPI guidelines/instructions are current.
- Develop and maintain space management policies consistent with higher education practices and trends. Create college space standards, procedures, and metrics.
- Serves as the F&E lead on real property matters. This includes coordination with college legal counsel on easements, leases, and property records.
- Works with the Assistant VP for F&E on SC Department of Administration annual real property reporting and maintaining Commission on Higher Education building records.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree; Previous and progressive experience working with database applications, running queries, and working with word processing and spreadsheet applications is required. Word processing and spreadsheet application skills are required; database experience is required
The ability to understand and manage database applications is required. The ability to understand, interpret, and analyze data and effectively translate data to meet business process needs for end-users is required. The ability to read, understand, and interpret architectural floor plans of buildings is required. Effective interpersonal, customer service, organizational, and team-building skills are a must.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master’s degree is preferred with an emphasis in business, project management, or a related field. Experience in maintaining a facility's database, providing technical training, and working within higher education is preferred. Proficiency in writing technical specifications is preferred.
