General Statement of Job Duties:

This is an executive level position responsible for contract oversight and management of GoTriangle's partner organizations that include GoDurham, the Regional Information Center, Information Services, and the Vanpool program. This position reports directly to the Chief of Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for oversight of the management contract of GoDurham's fixed route and demand response service.
  • Responsible for the management oversight of the Regional Information Center.
  • Responsible for management oversight of the vanpool program/contract.
  • Responsible for management oversight of transit amenities which includes the maintenance of bus stops for GoTriangle and the City of Durham as well as the TransLoc system.
  • Responsible hiring direct reports and overall management of Department employees.
  • Management/supervisory/leadership skills including goal-setting, planning, decision-making, organizing, implementing, delegating, coaching, motivating, and negotiating.
  • Develops and monitors the Department's annual budgets.
  • Liaison between GoTriangle and the City of Durham and their contractual agreement as well as other transit agencies.
  • Identifies areas of improvement for GoDurham and develops strategies to correct.
  • Negotiates on behalf of GoTriangle for Contracted Services and other services as needed.
  • Works with legal team on various contracts and lease agreements.
  • Prepares application for federal capital grants.
  • Serves as the agency representative for renewable energy at various meetings/functions.
  • Provides management oversight, performance reviews, and supervision of subordinate staff.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations at meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in business, public administration or a related field.
  • Eight years' experience in transit operations.
  • Experience managing professional service and other major specialized contracts.
  • A working knowledge of federal and state guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently on several program objectives at once.
  • Must be able to effectively manage staff.
  • Exceptional level of interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate with government officials, staff, and the general public.
  • A working understanding of PC's including finance software and the Microsoft Office Packages.

An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the above stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

Working Conditions:

Works in an office environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or extreme temperatures. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting operating facilities, during which the incumbent should observe all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and use all protective clothing and devices provided.
