Director of Product, Building Materials

PrimeSource Building Products, one of the nation’s largest distributors of building materials, has an immediate opportunity available for an experienced Director of Product in our Irving, Texas corporate office. The Director will own the Building Materials product categories and develop marketing and pricing strategy, as well as lead new product development to establish profitable market growth within the assigned categories.

This position will be responsible for the following and additional duties may be assigned as necessary:

• Develop and execute the product roadmap and growth strategy for our Building Materials categories
• Partner with Marketing to develop and launch marketing plans for new products, product enhancements and ensure all product specifications are in place and up to date
• Lead development and commercialization of product knowledge training support materials for our field selling organization, customers, and end users
• Track and review financial performance and other key indicators to identify product/channel trends and proactively create corrective actions as needed
• Work closely with procurement team to optimize costing negotiations and optimal procurement procedures
• Create and execute programs with our strategic vendor partners to support product marketing and category growth opportunities
• Lead and develop a team of 3-4 including Product Manager(s), Trade Marketing Manager(s), and Business Analyst

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University
• Minimum of 7 years of previous experience as a Product Manager, Marketing, or Sales and/or same industry
• Proven track record of working with various partners to plan, execute and track product releases from inception to completion

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Experience presenting and speaking to wide-ranging audiences (including senior executives), customer visits, webinars, training, trade shows and industry events
• High level of business acumen
• Demand planning and forecasting
• Ability to connect with the sales and marketing teams to develop and execute an effective strategy
• Strategic thinker with an innate ability to articulate a strategy and product vision
• Project management skills to execute a product roadmap, moving a project from inception to completion
