Position Summary:

The Director of Partnership Development will be responsible for developing strong partnerships and other formal and informal relationships with key constituents of the Divinity School. In particular, the Director will seek to make Campbell University Divinity School a key resource and educational partner for the many different denominations and traditions from which our students have come. The Director will be expected to attend denominational events and build key relationships with denominational leaders, develop and plan partnership events within the Divinity School, work with the Marketing Committee to develop and implement content and marketing attractive to potential partners, and take the lead in communication with partners. The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to the mission of the Divinity School and of the Boundary Spanning initiative and will be able to exercise discretion, initiative, and independent judgment in promoting its success. Candidates should be aware that the development of partnerships and relationships is a key goal of the initiative, funded by a five-year grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. While the Divinity School hopes and intends to continue this position beyond the five-year period of the grant, the position is currently funded by the grant and cannot be guaranteed to continue past the end of the grant. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead in initiating contact with a wide diversity of denominations, traditions, and organizations.
  • Diligently build relationships with leaders and representatives of a wide diversity of denominations, traditions, and other key constituents.
  • Represent the Divinity School as a leader at denominational and associational events, including shared responsibility for booths at conferences, conventions, and annual meetings.
  • In partnership with staff and leadership, develop and implement a robust communication plan to key partners and potential partners informed about Campbell, and communicate opportunities and events from partners to our students.
  • In partnership with the Marketing Committee, design and develop content and messaging that will appeal to and benefit partners and potential partners.
  • Plan and coordinate partnership development events, including recruiting speakers or representatives from partners and potential partners, advertising to churches and other constituents, etc.
  • Represent the University through professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to FERPA and other state and federal mandates.
  • Fulfill other job related duties; responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate theological degree desired
  • Significant experience in denominational or church ministry desired
  • Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector desired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to take the initiative and work independently while also working effectively in a team and with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and use new and emerging technology.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher, along with standard methods of digital communication, including web/text/chat platforms.
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with all constituents, including churches, denominations, students, faculty, staff, university officials, and the public.
  • Exercise independent judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations.
  • Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment.
  • Ability to work occasional evening or weekend hours, including representing the Divinity School in churches.
  • Ability to undertake frequent travel, primarily day trips to churches and denominational headquarters; may include occasional overnight stays.
  • Enthusiastic support of and commitment to the mission and vision of the Divinity School.
  • This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University.
