The Opportunity:*
The Warehouse Operations Director serves as the head of our on-site warehouse operations and is responsible for creating an overall department plan and managing the execution through their team. This role leads a multi-disciplinary team of 10+ individuals and is responsible for ensuring that work is properly planned, allocated, and completed within defined internal and external SLAs. We are looking to this person to help us level-up how we plan, staff and manage our warehouse operations as our business grows over the next few years.

This role reports directly to the CEO and is required to work on-site in our Chicago warehouse.

Here is what you’ll be mainly responsible for:
Head of on-site Operations: Oversee and manage the onsite operations of the business. Creates plans, sets priorities and directs on-site team managers in day-to-day operations.
Team management. Directs three managers who oversee the day-to-day warehouse operations including inventory, customization, order fulfillment and shipping/receiving. Responsible for the growth and development of the people that report to them and their team.
Inventory management: Creates accurate inventory forecasts, ensuring equipment is available to fill orders as necessary.
Order fulfillment and shipping/receiving: Works collaboratively with internal stakeholders to define performance expectations and SLAs for all types of orders.
Cross department collaboration. Work closely with our Sales, On-site Execution, Customer Experience and Accounting teams to define a plan and manage execution.

Past successful operational experience. *You’ve worked in warehouse environments before and have past success creating strategic plans, defining and implementing standard operating procedures, and getting things done cross-functionally. Technology or Event warehouse experience is a plus!

Due to the nature of the work and the equipment you’ll interact with, the person in this position also needs to be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

What you’ll accomplish, within 30 days:

  • Meet with your team and key internal stakeholders to understand the current state of our business / operation. Review and familiarize yourself with team KPIs and key reports.
  • Work with your manager and other internal stakeholders to understand expected demand for the rest of the year. Work with your manager and your team to finalize a production plan for the next 3 months.
  • Become familiar in our ERP system, Netsuite

What you’ll accomplish, within 60 days:

  • Take responsibility for leading team meetings and 1:1s with your direct reports.
  • Create a first draft of your plan for the rest of the year including priorities and areas of focus for your team

What you’ll accomplish, within 90 days:

  • Take full responsibility for the team – responsibility for your budget, the people on your team, and planning and executing work on your team in consultation with internal stakeholders
  • Work with your team and other internal stakeholders to create a workforce, inventory, and production plan for our Fall busy season spike
  • Review and adjust team KPIs and key reports as needed.
  • Become proficient in our ERP system, Netsuite

Within 6 months, you’ll:

  • Finalize and begin executing against the workforce, inventory, and production plan for our Fall busy season spike.
  • Work with your manager, team, and other internal stakeholders to create a plan and budget for the next year including key projects, staffing, and purchasing requirements based on expected growth.
