J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center provides care, treatment, and habilitative training to approximately 230 residents with intellectual and other developmental disabilities to the extent that services are not available in the community. The Center is a residential licensed Intermediate Care Facility and must provide individualized, person-centered active treatment to residents across a twenty-four hour period, seven days a week. Program Administration encompasses residential services and professional services. The Occupational Therapy Department provides individuals at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center with training in functional skills, maintenance of quality of life, and increasing independence in daily life. The Occupational Therapy Director is responsible for the coordination of the Occupational Therapy Department's staff and the department's services to the consumers.
***Per G.S. 126-5(c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.***
This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
Salary Grade MH19 Recruitment Range $$69,946.00 - $115,412.00

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form. Any information listed under the text resume section or on an attachment will not be considered for qualifying credit. Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following.
Management preferences:
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience with IDD and/or behavioral health.
- Experience with Community Re-integration.
- Considerable knowledge of occupational therapy treatments and interventions; splint application, dysphagia evaluation and treatment; general knowledge of management and administration techniques as applied to the governmental system.
- Skill in administering a complex treatment program and directing the work of professionals.
- Effective oral and written communication.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of North Carolina and three years of experience as an occupational therapist.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
