Summary:

DG Foods is seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources with outstanding people skills to manage our personnel and ensure that our human resources programs and initiatives are effective, efficient, and aligned to overall business objectives. The ideal candidate for this role should possess a high work ethic, excellent communication skills (written and verbal), knowledge of federal and state labor regulations and Human Resources practices, strategic thinking abilities, strong organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. Additionally, the candidate must improve Human Resources processes, implement strategies that support business growth, increase morale and employee retention, enhance safety and wellness, strengthen relations between staff and employees, manage job satisfaction, attract the best recruits, and promote the organization's values.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage company’s efforts in the areas of talent acquisition/recruiting, orientation and onboarding, training and development, career pathing, internship programs, assist in benefit administration, governmental compliance, employee relations, employee engagement, employee evaluation process, and employee records.
  • Develop and implement programs, policies, and procedures related to all required human resources functions and objectives.
  • Monitor adherence to required internal policies and legal standards.
  • Deal with grievances and violations invoking disciplinary action when required.
  • Anticipate and resolve litigation risks.
  • Report to senior management by analyzing data and using Human Resources metrics.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on overall strategic planning for the company, as well as strategies relating specifically to human resources matters and issues.
  • Motivating and supporting current staff.
  • Identifying staffing needs and creating job descriptions.
  • Develop initiatives, policies, and programs to complement existing practices and create consistency across the organization.
  • Lead the planning and growth of the Human Resources department.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with department leaders, senior management team, and labor unions.

Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience driven results in Human Resources management required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate discretion, able to work with sensitive and confidential materials and information.
  • Proven ability to manage conflict and diffuse situations.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to balance conflicting points of view, function effectively under pressure and demonstrate discretion, integrity, and fairness.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
