Summary of Position:
The Director of the Doctorate in Community College Leadership provides leadership and coordination, overseeing all aspects of the program, including curriculum development, faculty recruitment and management, student recruitment and retention, alumni relationships, and program assessment. Under the direction of the Dean, the Director provides academic and administrative leadership to ensure that the program meets its goals and objectives.
The Director is responsible for maintaining a strong network of partnerships with community colleges, professional organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure that the program is responsive to the needs of the field. This includes developing and implementing strategies to support the program's growth and development and ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to take on leadership roles in community college settings.
The Director also plays a key role in ensuring that the program is of the highest quality and meets accreditation standards. This includes monitoring and evaluating the program's outcomes and making necessary adjustments to ensure that the program meets its objectives.
This full-time position is housed on-site on the main campus (Big Rapids, MI). The anticipated start date for this position is July 2023. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Leadership: Provide administrative leadership to the program and coordinate the direction of areas such as student recruitment and retention, student support, curriculum and assessment, alumni relations, and overall operations of the program, working collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to achieve its goals.
Administration and budget management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the program, including scheduling, record-keeping, and reporting, and ensuring that the program complies with institutional policies and procedures.
Oversee logistical arrangements associated with the face-to-face sessions and events.
Represent the DCCL program at various events, including face-to-face class weekends (average of two times per semester) and making program presentations.
Train and supervise assigned staff within the area of responsibility. Carries out supervisory responsibilities following university policies and applicable laws.
Monitor, maintain, and exercise operational control of the program's budget to ensure that resources are used effectively and efficiently to support the program's goals.
Independently answer program-related inquiries from various internal and external sources, and explain the policies, practices, and procedures of the program and the University.
Facilitate meeting planning and project coordination.
Regularly deal with sensitive and confidential matters.
Maintain confidentiality of designated information.
Compose correspondence and conduct oral communications for varied audiences and purposes, utilizing professional style, creativity, and accuracy in the use of language and grammar.
Student recruitment and retention: Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain high-quality students, including marketing the program, guiding students, and providing academic and personal support.
Coordinate admissions and recruitment process with program staff and the Office of Graduate Studies.
Develop annual recruitment and promotional strategies designed to enroll at least one full cohort annually through planning exhibits, presentations, admissions processes, personal recruitment, and promotional activities.
Research and offer content and new strategies for reaching audiences on websites and social media platforms.
Faculty recruitment and management: Recruit and retain qualified and effective faculty to ensure a qualified pool of instructors who are committed to the program's mission and values are available to meet student needs. Collaborate with the appropriate offices to evaluate instructors as appropriate to their position.
Curriculum, assessment, and accreditation: Develop, revise, and evaluate the program's curriculum and assess its effectiveness in achieving program learning outcomes while remaining closely aligned with the latest trends and issues in community college leadership. Collaborate with faculty and advisors to make the necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
Monitor and assess the effectiveness of the DCCL program. Work collaboratively with program stakeholders to discuss and implement recommended changes and improvements.
Research and compile data to advance the doctoral program; stay current on emerging trends within community colleges and higher education.
Ensure that the program meets any applicable accreditation standards and maintain the necessary documentation and reports.
Contribute to the academic agenda of the program through participation as a guest speaker in courses and assisting in other endeavors, such as publications.
Partnerships and outreach: Developing and maintaining partnerships with community colleges, professional organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure that the program is responsive to the needs of the field.
Coordinate the recruitment and retention of the National Advisory Board of recognized community college leaders that guide the program.
Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Carry out responsibilities following university policies and applicable laws.
Travel out-of-state travel several times a year along with scheduled evening and weekend activities as recruiting, event, and cohort schedules dictate.
