The Director of the Office of Institutional Diversity (OID) provides leadership to the University for planning, development, integration and implementation of all aspects of diversity including international. The Director reports directly to the VP for Mission Integration ensuring that this is a university wide and mission driven endeavor drawing in the academic, co-curricular and support services dimensions. Under the direction of this position, the OID will continue to build a “welcoming community” (Mission Statement) of students and employees rich in diversity. This will involve strengthening relationships with the USF campus and the greater geographic community, alumni and friends of USF and collaborating across the spectrum to serve and increase the number and retention of USF’s diverse students/employee populations.
Serves as Title IX Coordinator managing the responsibilities of USF’s obligations of Title IX compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
STRATEGIC PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION
  • Responsible for continuous program development and outreach that enhances awareness and increases skills in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion and cultural competence.
  • Lead annual university strategic thinking related to diversity with strong theoretical foundation and best practices, and assessment processes rooted in current research
  • Develop measurable objectives and strategies in line with overall university plans for increasing diverse student and employee populations’ success and retention.
  • Receive, respond, and oversee investigations and remedies to inquiries and/or complaints from campus constituents and third parties in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the currently enrolled International students for persistence and completion

CAMPUS CULTURE AND FORMATION
  • Develop and implement effective diversity practices with university workplace practices, educate campus of current social issues and trends and monitor and evaluate progress in creating a more diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Assist the university to stay current in the area of diversity by sharing seminal higher education journals, conference attendance and participation at other professional development opportunities.
  • Advocate and provide assistance for campus climate and culture issues related to diversity and social justice to ensure a successful student and employee experience.
  • Design and deliver learning experiences, presentations, and workshops and provide consultation and support of efforts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion for individuals and groups within the campus community.
  • Design and implement institution-wide practices to ensure equity, inclusion and respect for all employees and students, e.g. Sponsoring Congregation’s Anti-Racism training, FrankChats and Diversity and Inclusion Series.
  • Oversight to the Leaders for Tomorrow mentoring program, University Success Scholars, and the university’s Cultural Center.
  • Develop and disseminate Title IX educational materials and conduct annual training’s tailored to faculty, students and staff.
COLLABORATION
  • Provide insight and expertise to the University and Executive Councils, contributing through the lens of diversity and social justice, an understanding of best practices.
  • Oversee both the Diversity Council (consisting of employees who contribute to campus activities relative to diversity enhancement including student diversity club moderators) and Diversity Advisory Council (consisting of all student diversity club presidents, SGA reps and other student-centered campus activities relative to diversity enhancement).
  • Strengthen relationships with greater community partners internal and external to USF.
  • Collaborate with Director of Student Life and University Ministry (Social Justice focus).
ORGANIZATION
  • Manage all aspects of the Office including budget preparation, accounting, and reports, supervising personnel, maintaining current database for diversity tracking, utilizing lean and sustainability practices.
  • Assist financial development efforts to meet OID milestones related to diversity initiatives including co-sponsorships and grants.
  • Participate and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement.
  • Recruit and train staff to serve as Title IX investigators and oversee Title IX Core Team.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in multicultural education or related field
  • Five years of demonstrated success in developing and assessing curricula that emphasizes diversity and social justice trends
  • Three years of professional supervisory experience in multicultural affairs, diversity education or a related area within higher education
  • Possess positive disposition, high energy, creativity and ability to work as a team with strong facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice and human rights
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written, especially the ability to relate to and interact with a diverse workforce across the university
  • Title IX experience with mediation/conflict management skills
  • Strong computer and technology skills
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position
  • Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university

Preferred Requirements
  • Multicultural qualities, e.g. Bilingual, English not a first language, First Generation, Immigrant to the U.S., Worked or taught abroad
  • Published and/or experienced presenter on the subject of diversity
  • Title IX Certified Coordinator

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule
Full-time, minimum expected is 40 hours per week with evening/weekend hours as needed. Some travel is required.

Physical Requirements of Position
Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
