Director of Building Operations Job at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park
JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Building Operations reports directly to the Chief Operation Officer & General Manager. The Director of Building Operations is responsible for all arena operations, engineering, conversion, and housekeeping.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the operations, conversion, and housekeeping departments
- Prepare the annual operating budget and participate in the capital expenditure budgeting for the arena
- Responsible for accurate inventory of building tools, machinery, cleaning supplies and building equipment
- Develop preventive maintenance schedule for applicable equipment and machinery
- Know and guarantee all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures are followed
- Keep in compliance with and abreast of all OSHA regulations
- Develop ice maintenance plan in conjunction with non-ice event within the arena
- Hire, train, develop, and appraise staff effectively including up to six (6) Full Time and twenty (20) Part Time employees
- Arrange for appropriate third-party contractor support to ensure inspections for fire, life safety, HVAC and ice plant are completed and up to code
- Rotate with other building personnel to act as Manager on Duty (MOD) for events
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in industrial, mechanical or business administration, or a 4yr technical degree in related discipline, or equivalent work experience
- At least 7 years of experience within an arena or similar setting, including maintaining an ice surface at a professional level is required
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Proven knowledge of current First Aid and safety procedures
- Customer-Service minded, with a fun, friendly attitude and professional appearance at all times
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, cross-train and learn new skills quickly
Physical Demands and Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an office environment, with noise levels usually moderate.
