Our client is a private pharmaceutical research company. They provide contract research services to over 1800 clients worldwide, through their labs in the US and Germany.
The incumbent will directly manage the kinase assay service group’s day-to-day operations, provide scientific support to clients, lead problem solving, quality and safety control efforts within the laboratory, manage performance evaluations, and other tasks. Strong interpersonal skills and management experience are required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise a group of managers and lab personnel in executing a variety of client assay service jobs.
- Be able to design and perform new assays based on the needs of internal efforts and of clients.
- Improve productivity and delivery to our clients.
- Review data in an accurate and timely manner, balancing multiple service orders, at times in high volumes.
- Communicate with clients to answer questions related to the services, scientific background, data analyses, etc.
- Responsible radiation safety and general lab safety.
- Management responsibilities including, but not limited to: personnel decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity, and daily operations.
- Train and coach employees in proper assay SOP’s.
- Support Research Scientists and Associates and help them as required, including assisting in troubleshooting issues that arise in the analyses or data.
- Other duties as assigned or requested
- A thorough understanding of the operational needs of a laboratory and previous management experience.
- Demonstrated leadership ability characterized by the ability to motivate and develop staff, manage through change, and implement and maintain a culture.
- PhD in biochemistry and 7+ years of experience
- 3+ years of management experience
- Previous experience with enzymatic assays is highly desired
- Ideal candidate would have demonstrated proficiency in managing a lab group, client services management experiences is highly desired.
- Attention to detail, and organization skills are critical
- Collaborative and proactive attitude with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Flexibility to accommodate to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
