THE ROLE
The Director, Internal Communications reports to the Chief of Staff with a dotted line to the Chief Human Resources Officer and works closely with senior executives to develop internal-facing strategies, planning, messaging, and meetings in support of the Black Rifle business. This role will be responsible for executing internal strategic communication activities focused on positioning the company's messaging consistently and effectively to reach and engage employees. You will be responsible for maintaining and overseeing all internal communications platforms and activities, including those for senior executives, to ensure that each reflect timely, useful, strategic and/or operational information.
YOUR TASK
- Create and implement employee communications strategies that help inspire, engage, and drive awareness and understanding of our people priorities, programs and initiatives.
- Provides strategic, direct hands-on support to key senior executives including consultation, message/content development and materials preparation for employee-facing events and meetings.
- Monitors relevant topics and trends (both in the market and within the company) that could impact our employees, our culture, or our company’s mission and makes recommendations to leadership as appropriate including proactive internal messaging of crisis events and negative PR. .
- Establishes and maintains editorial and stylistic standards, working with our multimedia team, to ensure that all materials are of the highest possible quality and reflect the company's goals and values
- Builds and updates communications calendars, writes and edits copy, fields and prioritize requests, and advises on timing of communications.
- Develops organizational announcements in partnership with internal functions including Operations, HR, Finance and IT.
- Manages complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges
- Interfaces with external PR assets and contractors to align external and internal messaging.
- Lead the creation of strategic communications plans and strategies and oversee the support of tactical communications execution that support HR business goals across multiple internal divisions, including Global Talent Management, Total Rewards, HR Service Delivery, and other HR functions
- Spearhead a cadence of live communications events such as Town Halls, Leadership summits and onboarding events which Educate, Inform and Inspire.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or a related field
- 7-10 years of Corporate Communications and Public Relations experience
- Communications experience with both established organizations and high growth startups is highly desirable
- Understanding of organizational change management practices and considerations
- Keen eye for detail and a skillful editor with a track record of producing high quality work
- This role will require strong professional maturity and demonstrated trust and confidence to navigate issues objectively, authentically and with an enterprise mindset
- Experience successfully navigating a high growth, complex work environment-and thriving in it!
- US Military Veteran a plus.
