The Director of Business Analytics is responsible for supporting and promoting data-driven decisions within the Kaplan Professional business. Such topics of input will range from, but not be limited to, how to package, price, and promote (advertise and discount) our range of products within their respective markets across the globe using both historic data and forecasts in order to achieve meaningfully better fiscal results.

The Director of Business Analytics collaborates with sales, marketing, and product teams to develop and govern a strategic “data-driven decision-making” (Business Analytics) roadmap. This includes the application of best practices for relational data modeling, data management, and data governance. The Director of Business Analytics is an expert designer and developer of reports and dashboards, and is sufficiently adept in statistics to perform more advanced data analysis as needed.
The Director of Business Analytics is a curious team member with a sharp sense to create value through data, including the development of data products and collaboration with both internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate and recommend "data-supported" solutions that drive significant business value and academic outcomes.
  • Spearhead and foster cross-functional partnerships with key leaders spanning, strategy, marketing, admissions, and financial aid, academics, student support, operations, financial management, and others to align and architect solutions that address top-priority academic/business objectives and goals.
  • Provide and explain accurate analytical services to cross-functional business leaders in order to achieve the best business results.
  • Identify student outcome/success improvement & business opportunities and utilize a range of analytic activities to develop solutions.
  • Drive results through achieving consensus across cross-functional leaders and work towards implementation of designed solutions.
  • Formulate problem/opportunity statements, preliminary solution design, access activation potential, and document business impact potential.
  • Collaborate with leaders and across other teams to develop and write analytic plans focusing on proposed techniques, team composition, and resource requirements/assignments.
  • Leverage existing analytical approaches and deliverables across departments to share best practices as well as efficient and effective analyses/research delivery.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S.)
  • 4+ Years of experience in Business, Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Information Management, Decision Science, Computer Science, Economics, or Operations Research
  • High degree of creativity and latitude
  • Skills and comfort level with analytic applications to support and guide cross-functional leaders in making the best business decisions based on analytics.
  • Expert-level quantitative skills, particularly in building highly complex Excel models.
  • Expert-level knowledge of the following required: MS Products (including PowerPoint and Excel) Tableau and SQL.
  • Good understanding of analytical modeling techniques such as predictive modeling, forecasting, decision trees, regression modeling, etc.
