Job Description:
The Director of Inclusion & Campus Engagement in the Office.of Institutional Equity and Diversity is responsible for coordinating outreach designed to address climate concerns of faculty and graduate
students in academic departments at Brown. This work will consist working in close contact with the Associate Vice President for Institutional Equity and Diversity on the development of an efficient strategy '
for working with the 50+ academic departments. The Director will also collaborate with key constituents across campus to assist with development of robust diversity trainings and workshops, as well as assessment tools to evaluate key initiatives supported by th,e Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan {DIAP).
Qualifications
  • Required: A Master's degree is required. A PhD is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Five to seven years of direct or related experience including, but not limited to working in higher education, student leadership, or related field; prior experience working in diversity or multicultural affairs preferred.
  • Strong commitment to and demonstrated skills for working with individuals with diverse intersecting identities, backgrounds, and experiences.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills required, ability to effectively engage and present to a wide variety of constituents, both internally and externally.
  • Must possess an understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion in higher education.
  • Must understand the needs of individuals from histrionically underrepresented and marginalized communities.
  • Must have a command of the language and critical frameworks used in equity, diversity and inclusion work.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with exceptional listening skills.
  • Strong quantitative skills, experience creating and analyzing reports.
  • Ability to identify, develop, implement and evaluate new programs, specifically in regards to diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to be creative in adapting programs, workshops, and other activities to a virtual space.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends.
  • Knowledge of database management and analyzing pattern data.
