Job Summary

The Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Locator will locate the drill head using a locator and communicate the position to the drilling operator. The HDD Locator is usually also the crew foreman.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures
• Inspect work progress, equipment, or construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met
• Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment
• Locate drill head and communicate to drill operator
• Verify existing utilities in the surrounding area prior to start of construction
• Train workers in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures, or company policies
• Communicate to supervisor when repairs of equipment or machinery are needed

• 
  Ability to meet background requirements and pass a drug test.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred
• Experience with CATV/ Broadband construction specifications
• Ability to safely operate underground utility construction equipment
• Ability to work closely with others
• Must be able to read and understand prints
• Lifting of up to 50 lbs. at a full range of motion
• Ability to work outdoors and in the elements
• Strong communication skills
