Job Summary
The Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Locator will locate the drill head using a locator and communicate the position to the drilling operator. The HDD Locator is usually also the crew foreman.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures
- Inspect work progress, equipment, or construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met
- Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment
- Locate drill head and communicate to drill operator
- Verify existing utilities in the surrounding area prior to start of construction
- Train workers in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures, or company policies
- Communicate to supervisor when repairs of equipment or machinery are needed
Ability to meet background requirements and pass a drug test.- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred
- Experience with CATV/ Broadband construction specifications
- Ability to safely operate underground utility construction equipment
- Ability to work closely with others
- Must be able to read and understand prints
- Lifting of up to 50 lbs. at a full range of motion
- Ability to work outdoors and in the elements
- Strong communication skills
Working Conditions -Field environment, flexibility of schedule.
