Northrop Grumman Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) Division seeks a highly motivated Manager for our PGS Engineering Workforce, Innovation & Strategy Excellence (WISE) organization to lead the development and maturation of processes operations, metrics, and analytics in support of PGS Engineering and PGS Program execution. This leader will shape and drive the incorporation of the latest digital engineering capabilities and resources that enable PGS to exceed customer expectations for product development, quality, cost, and delivery, maximizing efficiency, optimizing, and driving engineering excellence.

This position can be performed from NGC sites in Redondo Beach, CA; Azusa, CA; Aurora, CO; Colorado Springs, CO; or Baltimore, MD. Other locations and remote options will be considered on an individual basis.

Seeking a strong technical leader with an enthusiasm for tackling difficult problems, collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders, and building a vision into reality. The Digital Engineering Process and Operations Manager will be a key leader in the PGS Engineering WISE Digital Engineering team responsible for advancing PGS processes, metrics, and analytics, including modifying them to align with Northrop Grumman’s Digital Transformation objectives and expanding them to support Division Level business requirements. Responsibilities include:

  • Collaboration with Division/Sector/Enterprise campaigns, Engineering and Business Leaders, and Program Partners to evaluate business challenges and shape Continuous Improvement across our engineering processes and tool sets to mitigate risks and develop opportunities.
  • Managing and refining Process and Procedure (ProP) documents and repositories such as PGS’ Program Execution Framework (PEF).
  • Shaping and preparing metrics and data analytics to illuminate progress and risk, supporting Engineering and other Business Functions. Including collaborating on new, digitally transformed, opportunities to support business operations, aid in business decisions, and to regularly present to Division leadership.
  • Build and manage WISE resource websites to enable the sharing of data with stakeholders.
  • Active participation with the team in the overall evolution of the WISE team objectives including the maturation of the Digital Engineering Strategy and investment.

The WISE team is a highly collaborative and energized team eager to work across the team and working closely with our Engineering and Business Partners to provide the tools and resources to support PGS Division Execution.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 9+ years of engineering experience OR Master's degree with 7+ years of engineering experience OR PhD with 4 years of engineering exp OR 13 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of professional experience coaching and leading teams
  • 2+ years of direct people leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Engineering
  • Candidate must be eligible to obtain DoD Top Secret and SCI clearances

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years engineering experience.
  • Ability to effectively interface with other Engineering and Production disciplines across the Business Unit as well as Programs supported by an understanding of Business, Engineering & Manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with Lean and/or Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with digital engineering tools and techniques; e.g. MBSE, DevOps, Digital Twins, Digital Threads, FotF.
  • A strong understanding of the PGS business and programs with a broad network of experience/exposure.
  • A current DoD Secret or TS/SCI.
  • Candidate will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Outstanding organizational skills with an ability to stay on track across multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Proven track record as a trusted advisor and partner with business leadership, along with demonstrated project management, analytical and process orientation skills

This position reports to Redondo Beach, CA, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 4 locations listed above.



Salary Range: $134,400 USD - $221,800 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
