Position Summary Information

Basic Function
Manage content for Guilford College’s website and primary social media accounts in order to effectively communicate academic and co-curricular opportunities and other important information to prospective and current students, alumni, potential and current supporters and the general public. Work with other members of the Communications & Marketing team and key partners related to marketing and technology to ensure content is fresh, relevant, impactful and aligned with strategic objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
Manage all content for the College’s website.
  • Develop and maintain content for web pages, working cooperatively with Enrollment, Advancement and Alumni Relations, Office of the President, Office of the Provost and various academic departments
  • Manage and maintain website content in Drupal


Communicate the college’s brand identity through the website.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of key messages and branding
  • Assist with the research and decision for various marketing initiatives
  • Work to extend brand standards on the website

Conduct ongoing effectiveness assessment of the website.
  • Maximize website accessibility, usability and effectiveness
  • Monitor and evaluate comprehensive tracking reports that guide website development
  • Recommend site design changes

Manage content on the College’s main social media accounts.
  • Develop and maintain content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linked In and other social media in cooperation with various content sources on campus
  • Maximize engagement through social media best practices

Handle other projects assigned by the Vice President of Communications & Marketing.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Three or more years of professional experience in Web content management
  • Proficiency in working in Drupal (the platform on which the Guilford website is created)
  • Familiarity with search engine optimization and usability testing
  • Experience creating and managing social media content effectively
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design or related field

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Project management and working as part of a development team
