*Dietary Manager Job Duties and Responsibilities*
Supervises dietary aides and cooks to ensure setting up of tables, serving food, cleaning, and maintenance of the dining room and kitchen.
Completes staff schedule.
Completes inventory procedures prior to placing orders for food and supplies.
Participates in creating menus for the residents.
Implements a cleaning schedule for the dept.
Assists staff to prepare food/cook as needed.
Provides quality, nutritional food and maintains the dept. in a clean, safe, and sanity manner.
Ensures all food is handled in accordance with sanitary standards.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent with a Certificate of Dietary Management preferred.
2 years food service experience in a hospital, nursing facility, or other related medical facility.
Must possess leadership qualities and be able to supervise staff successfully.
Must have basic knowledge of dietary procedures, food sanitation, and food service operation.
Certificate of Dietary Manager is preferred but not required. Must be willing to enroll in certification program within one year.
Supervisory Duties
Must be able to carry out supervisory responsibilities according to facility policies and state law.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
Planning, assigning, and directing work of dietary staff.
Conduct employee annual work performance reviews, reward and discipline staff, and resolve problems within dept.
Dietary Manager is responsible for staffing the dept according to facility need.
Dietary Manager must be able to cover shifts when staff are not available or are absent.
Must be available evenings and weekends to answer calls from staff and help cover shifts when necessary.
