The Office of Marketing crafts the strategies, messages, and campaigns to promote Emerson to prospective students, alumni, donors, and friends. The office is composed of several teams that are responsible for the College's marketing strategy, creative direction, multimedia production, and marketing content creation. Reporting to the Director of Creative Services, the Designer designs and manages many projects simultaneously across a diverse range of media, audiences, and environments, while meeting deadlines and working within budget in an extremely fast-paced environment. As a designer on the College's central marketing team, this position will help bring the brand to life, designing for many different platforms and mediums. In particular, this position will play a significant role in designing assets for digital marketing campaigns on Facebook/Instagram, Google Display Network, LinkedIn, and potentially additional platforms. Additionally, this role will design many other assets for the College for print, digital, and social media.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Adept at designing, infographics, digital and social media graphics, video assets, digital marketing ads, newsletters, posters, invitations, and other associated items.
  • Manages many design projects simultaneously across a diverse range of media, and environments.
  • Assists in maintaining Emerson's brand identity and associated assets including the brand identity guide
  • Works closely with the social media content specialist to create compelling, unique graphics for social media.
  • Reviews and edits final images and designs to ensure they achieve artistic/functional objectives, are visually appealing and on-brand, and meet appropriate specifications.
  • Ability to create compelling original designs in addition to carrying out previously established visual concepts.
  • Prepares project files for production.
  • Works closely with other graphic designers and colleagues to generate new ideas and brainstorm concepts.
  • Meets deadlines and works within budget in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborates with appropriate colleagues across the marketing team to ensure design concepts are in line with content objectives.
  • Ensure design work is in line with current digital accessibility standards when applicable
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years' experience in graphic design (print and digital)
  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator)
  • Experience creating digital ads, social media graphics, video assets, and experience with digital accessibility standards
  • Exceptional ability in branding, print campaigns, environmental design, student recruitment collateral, fundraising materials, editorial design, ads, newsletters, posters, invitations and other materials.
  • Experience in an academic institution preferred
  • Experience with video and graphic animation preferred
  • Experience designing environmental graphics, student recruitment collateral, and fundraising materials preferred

  • Expert typography and design skills
  • High level of organizational skills; able to work with minimal supervision under tight deadlines and have the flexibility to handle shifting priorities and multiple projects
  • Outstanding attention to detail with a persistent focus on quality
  • Ability to keep track of multiple simultaneous projects
  • Familiarity with a project management program and a digital storage and file sharing system such as Wrike and Box

  • This position is generally sedentary in nature, movement throughout the area is required from time to time.
  • Ability to have continuous oral and written communication with co-workers and supervisors is essential.
  • Repetitive movements, occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds, reaching, lifting, stooping and the ability to read a computer screen, detect color-coding and read fine print will be expected.

The hiring range for this position is $54,274 to $66,486, commensurate with years of relevant experience.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

This position will be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
