Design Engineer, Standard Cell Library Development E5 Job at Applied Materials
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a unique team at Applied Materials. Applied’s MSCO (Materials to Systems Co-optimization) platform offers a set of EDA solutions for design and technology co-optimization. SLiC (Standard Cell Layout Compiler) is a state-of-the-art logic library layout generator used both for creating libraries for technology pathfinding and production libraries .
We are looking for a Field Applications Engineer to join our North America team and support SLiC (Standard Cell Layout Compiler) . In this position you will lead successful pre-sales product evaluations for prospective customers as well as provide excellent support for existing users of the product. You will train customers in using the product, help solve issues and discuss enhancements and new features. You will communicate with customers and the SLiC R&D team to provide the best solution for customer requirements. You will work with customers on cutting-edge and future technologies and architecture and will help them deliver the most optimal libraries for their technology and design requirements. You may also perform library creation services, running the tool and delivering high quality libraries per customer requirements.
Key qualifications:
- BSEE/MSEE 5+years of experience in at least one area of: standard cell architecture and design, standard cell characterization, standard cell physical design
- Understanding of various advanced logic technologies such as Gate All-around, Backside/Buried Power, CFETs, Nanosheets etc.
- Solid understanding of logic design implementation flow and signoff
- Knowledge of advanced node technologies (10nm, 7nm, 5nm)
- Knowledge of circuits and logic design, CAD environments and a scripting language (e.g. Python)
- Knowledge of industry standard benchmarks for evaluating standard cell libraries
- Self-motivated, excellent time management and able to work autonomously on resolving technical problems
- Strong inter-personal and excellent verbal and written communication skills (prior AE experience is a plus)
- Ability to work independently and productively in a global team environment
Preferred experience
- Perform block level place and route and close the design to meet timing, area and power constraints
- knowledge of timing corners, process variations and signal integrity related issues
- Solid foundation in process technology or device physics
- Prior experience as Field Applications Engineer

$184,000.00 - $253,000.00The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on a number of factors including location and level and will vary depending on confirmed job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
