Universal Services Associates, Inc. is (www.buildwithusa.com) is a nationally renowned exhibit fabrication firm located just outside of Philadelphia, PA. We are searching for experienced CAD Technicians (Design Detailers) to work in the development of permanent exhibits for Museums, Visitor Centers, Zoos and Aquariums. The work is very diverse and ever changing therefore preferred candidates will have an overall knowledge of carpentry, cabinet making, model making, electronics, machining, paint finishing and plastics fabrication.

Overview:

Specific responsibilities will vary, depending on the project, as assigned by your supervisor. Major responsibilities will be to coordinate with the USA team to develop detailed design drawing packages, control drawings, documents, and solutions to the unique and changing projects at USA. All documentation that you create and prepare should be limited to what is needed for the USA team or vendors/subcontractor/ engineer for fabrication and review, communicates necessary information to the client and meets project objectives within the appropriate level of detail.

This position is responsible for understanding project requirements and creating accurate control drawings and detailed shop drawings within project budgets and schedules, as assigned.

Responsibilities:

· Contribute to project meetings with knowledge of the design approach and keep accurate records of information that will affect your work in creating control drawings and documents

· Participate in drawing reviews and be responsible for recording and publishing information from these meetings to modify control drawings and documents

· Coordinate the design and documentation requirements for projects and products as assigned by the USA team

· Create detailed shop drawings that are used to communicate and gain approvals with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and the USA fabrication team

· Analyze projects to prepare for efficient fabrication processes and durable solutions of appropriate materials and resources

· Design and document materials and fabrication approach within the conditions of the estimate

· Meet budgets and schedules set for design tasks and submittals

· Assess design development solutions that impact the original approach and estimate; report any changes to the Project Manager for client approval of suggested changes

· Keep current on advances in fabrication techniques, resources, and subcontractor capabilities

· Prepare documents for milling and subcontracting, as designated for each project to the appropriate level of detail

Prepare, complete, and confirm drawings and details necessary for any engineering,

stamps, permits, or other outside approval activities, within assigned budgets and schedules

Qualifications:

· Proficient in 3D CAD software, Autodesk Inventor a plus

· Experienced in exhibit detailing/drawings

· Word, Excel, Illustrator

· Knowledge of CNC routers

· Strong knowledge of fabrication and materials applications

· Consistent attention to detail and a dedication to excellence

· Must be able to work well with project leads

· Experience in a fast-paced production / shop environment

· Must maintain a respectful disposition with all team members

· Understands the workflow from design to preconstruction to fabrication/installation

Level: Design Detailing – Minimum of 5 years’ experience

Employment type: Full -Time

Pay Scale: based on level of experience
