Dental Assistant Requirements
As a dental assistant you must have a positive and outgoing personality, exceptional interpersonal and patient care skills.
- Chairside assist the dentists during examinations and treatment procedures
- Record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patient
- Record treatment information in patient records
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and tray setups for dental procedures
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment
- Organize and maintain lab
- Effectively present cases to patients
- Review schedules and anticipate doctors needs in advance
- Take necessary x-rays as needed
- Take alginates/pour and trim models
- Package and sterilize instruments
- Minor lab work (retainers, models etc.)
- Experience with digital cameras
- Comfortable with most procedures, can do extractions, implants, orthodontics
- Stocking supplies and replenishment of treatment areas
Dental Assistant Preferred Qualities
- X-ray and ICE certified
- CPR certified
- Dentrix software experience a plus
- Team Oriented
