Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.


Purpose of the Role:

To provide all Corning Services companies with rolling monthly services forecast for use in Sales and Operations Planning; guide the Engineering Services group through the basic cycles of S&OP and facilitate each of these steps (Demand, Supply, Financial, and Report Out).


Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Meet on a regular basis with commercial group(s), Business Development Analyst, Market Development, Project Managers, Design business input teams, and other business influencers to obtain the most accurate future demand picture.
  • Lead the monthly demand meeting for Sales & Operations Planning for service lines of business
  • Leverage industry best practices to continuously enhance the S&OP process
  • Work with Sales and Market Development in a manner that establishes long-term relationships and affirms the value of working with Business Operations
  • Prepare presentation, spreadsheets, graphs, and reports as requested using appropriate skills and software.

Required Education and Experience:

  • BS or BA degree in technical or business field from an accredited college or university.
  • Exposure to/experience with the following:

o Forecasting and modeling

o Basic financial analysis

o Understanding of supply chain concepts


Required Skills:

  • Familiarity with commercial/sales organizations and forecasting methods
  • Ability to interface and communicate (orally and in writing) effectively with all levels of personnel, internal and external to Corning, and with various cultures
  • Ability to work in a high-profile position, handling details of a highly confidential and critical nature
  • Work effectively as an individual performer and a team player
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work efficiently and effectively in a dynamic unstructured environment
  • Detailed oriented and conscientious.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office

  • Proactive and a demonstrated ability to take the lead and influence the outcome.
  • Uses rigorous logic and proven methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
  • Technical writing ability, with emphasis on effective presentation of detailed concepts.
