OFFICIAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Loads & unloads vehicles & drives state vehicle (vans, cars, trucks, forklifts) to transport & pick up various materials (e.g., supplies, furniture, payrolls, mails laboratory samples, books, parts, machinery) on scheduled local or statewide routes (e.g., transports merchandise to & from District, Central Office & County Garages), travels to Columbus or other Districts and/or locations to pick up vehicles &/or equipment (e.g., pickup truck, van, utility truck, garage parts). Drives State vehicle to transport supplies and mail for district.

Works in District Garage stockroom sorting, stocking and distributing parts and supplies; checks invoices to see that all cargo and merchandise is received that is requested; works as an intermediary to obtain correct parts, material or merchandise for the mechanics, timekeepers and other personnel; maintains records of equipment, supplies, cargo, delivery dates and other items as necessary.

Keeps assigned vehicles clean and sees to regular service and merchandise of such (e.g., gas, oil, tires, battery, washing). Performs other miscellaneous related duties as assigned per departmental needs.


Qualifications
Formal education in arithmetic to include addition, subtraction, multiplication & division & in reading, writing & speaking English; valid driver's license. In accordance with Section 124.11(B)(2) of Revised Code, Director of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
Knowledge of agency's practices & procedures for pick up, delivery & storage of materials*; arithmetic to include additions, subtraction, multiplication & division. Skill in operation of motor vehicles used for pick up & delivery. Ability to calculate whole numbers; accurately complete routine forms & records; read, copy & record figures precisely without error; deal with problems involving several variables; read short sentences; lift 50-100 pounds; demonstrate physical fitness. All Bargaining Unit new hires MUST serve a one (1) year probationary period.

Position will be filled pursuant to the provision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.
