Job Description:

NU Borders LLC is a Washington, DC-based based tech company that focuses on using cutting edge tools to solve data-driven questions that our customers identify. We are currently working with a number of Department of State and Department of Homeland Security clients to ingest open source data sets and run mission-focused analytics using our Business Intelligence for Trade Enforcement (BITE) platform. We are looking for talented and forward-thinking data scientists, who have experience using Python and the Elastic Stack.

The candidate’s day to day work will include the following:

• Work with operational teams in the field to identify open source data sets to ingest into NU Borders’ cloud environment and analytical platform
• Using the BITE platform, candidate will ingest, transform and load data into the platform using tools such as Spark, PySpark and Logstash
• Collect and refine mission user business use cases, and transform them into analytical queries
• Create data products and analytical reports based on mission user requirements and use cases
• Export data and create visualizations/reports in Kibana
• Review and refine analytical work products and verify accuracy with field agents
• Create additional ingestion pipelines using Spark that include data preparation and data cleansing steps

The ideal candidate must have 2-4 years of experience working on similar activities to the above.
