POSITION SUMMARY: Performs professional and technical public outreach services related to all aspects of the Assessor’s Office. Assists with production and validation of major state statute mandated deliverables. Works directly with SQL Server database to write and maintenance queries that populates the Assessor website and provides data requests to the public. Gathers, collects and tabulates data for the appraisal of single family or vacant real property. Performs standard field duties including data collection, site characteristic collection and sketching building footprints, both in the field and office.

Received – Direct Supervision; works under the supervision of Deputy Assessor - Appraisal and works under the Intermittent Supervision of Deputy Assessor - Administration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists Data Analyst II in the generation and accuracy for all state statute-mandated administration deliverables: Notices of Valuation, Notices of Determination, Certification of Values, and Tax Roll. Assists Deputy Assessor-Appraisal with the production and accuracy of Abstract of Assessment.
- Writes/maintains SQL queries to populate all property data on Assessor website.
- Responds to formal and informal requests for data and/or informational reports from state auditor, members of the public, taxing entities, real estate professionals, etc. Mines data using SQL Server Management Studio or Access. Assists Deputy Assessor - Administration in generating and ensuring accuracy for Personal Property and Specialized Property Notices of Valuations.Adheres to the Assessment Calendar and Office deadlines.
Meets Gunnison County Assessor’s office Strategic measures applicable to this position.
Performs field inspections for residential properties and ancillary structures as assigned.
Updates and maintains assigned property accounts in CAMA software system based on data collected from field work, sales data, permits and the general public.
Evaluate information about property attributes. Utilizes good judgment applying fundamentally subjective data.
Researches and initially confirms all real property sales information. Organizes and maintains initial phase of sales verification process.
- Confirms with buyer, seller and/or broker to report actual sales price of the real property conveyed.
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responds to taxpayer questions regarding property value inquiries or methodology used.
- Gathers property specific information from the public.
- When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of County Commissioners, all Gunnison County Assessor employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferable.
- Proven experience with Oracle or SQL Server database

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Must complete ICS 100 and ICS 200 within the first year of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
GENERAL WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is generally performed in a typical office environment. Property site visits are frequent
(2-4 full days per week) between June and October, and infrequent the remainder of the year.
Field work entails travel to all parts of the county, driving on dirt and 4x4 roads, exposure to weather elements, hiking long distances over rough terrain at high altitude, construction hazards and other adverse conditions. Must be present in office during the month of May each year to assist with the appeal period. Must be willing and available to work overtime
October through April each reappraisal year as necessary to achieve required goals.
STRENGTH
- LIGHT – Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those of sedentary work. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
