Custome Service Applications Engineer (Automotive Manufacturing - Metal Fabrication)
85K to 90K Base + 8% Bonus (pays out) + Best Benefits in the Country + 9% Matching 401K + Full Relocation Package
The Applications Engineer will be responsible for product developments, new vehicle launches as well as mass production technical supporting for Automotive OEM customers.
Responsibilities
- Develops automotive body sheet applications in close cooperation with customers and internal functions - Sales & marketing, R&D, supply chain, plant product & process development, quality and others.
- Responsible for the introduction of new products to the market, from qualification to mass production.
- Coordinates all the activities to fulfill prototype and pre-series events material demands for new vehicle launches.
- Is the first point of contact for customers for all technical issues during the lifetime of the vehicle.
- Guides the customer in the selection of the best product for each application, from alloy and temper, to blank size and orientation, to lubricant and packaging.
- Coordinates with Company internal departments the launching of new products and vehicle platforms. Responsible for the supply of material to prototype and pre-series events according to customer requirements.
- Responsible for the APQP process.
- Comply with all EHS programs and requirements for the site.
- Acts as a conduit of customer needs and trends to guide product and market development for the Company.
- Assist as a technical expert in the problem resolution at customer sites.
- This job requires 30% travel time to sheet production facilities and customers.
Requirements
- Leadership competencies, technical skills requirement
- Mechanical, Metallurgical or Material Science engineering degree required, with a strong command of fundamentals.
- Experience in sheet stamping or other metal forming operations preferred.
- Strong multidisciplinary organization skills, balancing customer needs with the pace of internal product development.
- Fluent English is required, other languages a plus
Day on the Job
- Balance the inputs from customers, suppliers, and internal disciplines at all stages of the product cycle, from SOP to phase out.
- Manage customer quality and delivery performance expectations during the trial and pre-series development events.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
