The Patricia Standish Curriculum Library houses resources and hands-on materials to support undergraduate and graduate studies within The College's School of Education. The Curriculum Library specifically serves students who major in teacher education, communication sciences and disorders, counseling, education administration, educational/school psychology and applied technology.
The Curriculum Library assistant provides support in the daily operation of the library.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide circulation duties:
- Charge, renew & discharge library materials
- Collect fines
- Re-shelve books and assist with shelf-reading and other organizational tasks.
- Assist patrons with locating books and materials
- Assist Cataloguer with labeling books and kits.
- Assist Coordinator with inventory and weeding of collection.
- Assist the Coordinator with general upkeep of the library
In the absence of the CL Coordinator, Cataloguer and Reference Assistants:
- Supervise temporary staff, graduate assistants and work study staff
- Open/ Close the library
Job Requirements:
- Some college classwork in Education, Communication Disorders, or Counseling
- Demonstrated customer service orientation
- Demonstrated ability to do detailed, accurate work under deadline
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in a library is preferred
- Intermediate level computer skills using a windows based operating system, specifically MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Availability for the specific part-time schedule, listed below, required.
Additional Information:*
Academic Year Position- Part-Time Position of 20 hours*
Monday through Thursday: 3:45pm -7:30 pm
Fridays: 10am - 3pm
- Work hours are scheduled from the start of each semester through the final day of exams. This is typically the end of August through mid-December and mid-January through mid-May.
