DEQ has an open opportunity for a CRFL Project Coordinator.

This CRFL Project Coordinator works in the Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) Administrative and Maintenance Services section. It serves as the subject matter expert on the Coastal Recreational Fishing License (CRFL) program through acquisition and analysis of research information, operation of projects at various DMF offices, and ensures that the program is consistent with state, departmental, and division goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of the NCDMF CRFL projects and program.
  • Direct the workflow of the NCDMF CRFL functions.
  • Leading and coordinate programming efforts and contract management for work plans and outreach.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders to include local government, academic organizations, businesses, environmental stakeholders, and other state agencies.
  • Coordinate with the NCDMF Marine Fisheries Commission for publicly held meetings.

The Division of Marine Fisheries
The North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) is responsible for the stewardship of the state’s marine and estuarine resources. The DMF’s jurisdiction encompasses all coastal waters and extends to 3 miles offshore. Agency policies are established by the nine-member Marine Fisheries Commission and the Secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality. North Carolina is a member of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council , the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council, and the National Shellfish Sanitation Program. Recruitment Range: $43,500 - $48,172

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL the following:


  • Experience with grant and/or budget management.
  • Experience planning, conducting, and/or presenting work plans.
  • Experience in meeting coordination (planning, conducting, and/or presenting).
  • Experience with purchasing and/or contract procedures.

Management Preferences:
  • Project management experience or certification.
  • Experience in public administration, business administration, or fish/wildlife administration.
  • An ability to demonstrate skills as a self-starter in a dynamic environment and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in personnel, budgeting, research or administrative management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
