PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Credit Risk Analyst is responsible for measuring and monitoring the bank’s aggregate credit risk through ongoing portfolio and market analysis, stress testing, and loan review activities. This individual has oversight responsibilities for portfolio credit risk reporting and analysis. This individual advises the Chief Risk Officer on strategic credit matters and credit risk management practices. This position may include oversight of stress testing activities and the loan review function. Finally, this position assists with and/or completes special projects on an as needed basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use quantitative tools to mine and analyze business data necessary for understanding and measuring credit risk in the organization. Support data governance improvement efforts, particularly with regard to credit risk.
  • Enhance credit risk monitoring and reporting capabilities across multiple business units. Design and prepare reports to assess credit risk and analyze the results.
  • Prepare the quarterly Credit Oversight Committee package.
  • Conduct commercial real estate and industry market analysis.
  • Support Chief Risk Officer with monthly and quarterly risk reporting.
  • Oversee the commercial loan review function and assist with stress testing activities.
  • Evaluate the Bank’s sensitivity to market risk and its potential impact on credit performance.
  • Undertake risk and business intelligence projects for executive management, business unit leaders, and the Risk and Loan Committees of the Board on an ad hoc basis.
  • Maintain familiarity with the Bank’s product lines and Enterprise Risk Management governance structure and framework.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate risk, consider relevant business factors, and make well-supported recommendations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of economic factors affecting consumer and commercial credit quality, as well as safe and sound credit risk management practices.
  • Strong knowledge of consumer and commercial credit risk as well as tools to monitor and assess ongoing portfolio performance.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state banking laws and regulations.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, with limited direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead projects and teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Bank staff, and management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, in particular, Excel.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or equivalent fields is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in banking or financial services fields in credit, operational, or risk related roles.

  • Internal contact with all levels bank personnel and senior management

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Office environment. Ability to operate computer. Ability to communicate in order to exchange simple to complex information with individuals and groups. Ability to travel throughout Bank footprint.
