The Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia announces the following professional opportunity within the Administrative Office headquartered in Charleston, West Virginia. The position is Court Statistics Coordinator, briefly described as follow:

COURT STATISTICS COORDINATOR

Position Purpose: The Court Statistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing projects and resources related to the collection, analysis, and reporting of local, state, and national court statistics. This position is partially grant funded and reports directly to the Director of Court Services Division.

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university; however, a Master’s degree is preferred, including coursework in methods of research, statistics/mathematics, criminal justice, and/or computer science, and a minimum of two (2) years of hands-on statistical analysis professional work.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include:

*Ensures data quality.

*Schedules and processes the fulfillment of routine reports with respect to known seasonal reporting functions.

*Maintains an understanding of data sources, processing, and content to ensure comprehensive, representative reporting.

*Regularly represents the interest of statistics on applicable boards, committees, meetings, and forums.

*Designs, authors, maintains, and delivers training materials and modules regarding statistics collection and reporting.

*Defines standard operating procedures relating to court statistics.

* Designs and builds custom reports as approved for special projects, including evaluations required by grant funding sources.

*Provides technical support and problem resolution assistance to counties and administrative staff regarding the collection, processing, and reporting of court statistics.

*Represents the state court’s interest to and promotes the standards of the National Center for State Courts and other court statistics programs.

*Provides guidance and assistance to subject matter experts and data collection points.

*Considers and respects confidentiality of individual data elements and the appropriate release of compiled analysis.

*Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

*Ability to work independently on multiple ongoing tasks.

*Ability to effectively communicate with judges, court staff, and clerk staff both orally and in writing.

*Working knowledge of the court and criminal justice system preferred.

Criminal Background Check: All successful candidates must submit to a criminal background check.

Compensation and Benefits:

*Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications (min. starting rate $50,000.00).

Working Conditions (Physical/Mental Demands and Environmental Factors):

*This position is subject to multiple competing interests and tasks on an ongoing basis and, thus, requires an ability to constantly reprioritize.

*This position involves working at a computer for extended periods of time a significant portion of the day.

Continuing Education Requirements:

Maintain current knowledge of project management practices and maintain current knowledge and proficiency on evolving and applicable software (especially reporting) and system updates, as applicable, through ongoing networking with similar states, as well as NCSC training/education opportunities.
