Course Reserves Support (VTS) Job at Vanderbilt University
Course Reserve Support has the primary mission of connecting users with materials to support teaching at Peabody College. Reserve Services support identify, locate, and provide access to materials for course users library platforms. The temporary position in Reserves is a unique role that works to create and facilitate access to course material
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Search and create access to course materials.
- Interpret and organize course information submitted by faculty.
- Search bibliographic and discovery tools to identify resources for course readings; understand and apply basic information around digital rights, permalinks, and licensing.
- Use eReserves and library management systems to create access to electronic and print resources, to provide tracking information, and to solve problems.
- Interact with faculty to clarify information, explain policy, and redress problems.
- Track and ensure compliant use of licensed, digital resources; understand and apply "fair use" regulations.
- Work with Acquisitions & Peabody staff to order resources in multiple formats, organize licenses, and resolve problems.
- Diagnose and resolve access problems for users, troubleshooting ALMA and Brightspace and investigating the Library's electronic resources to investigate updates and changes that could affect access. Partner with IT, Acquisitions, and University staff where necessary.
- Operate scanners, conversion and editing software, and directories to generate and upload PDFs to the eReserve system; understand ADA compliance standards and Help to coordinate all activities in the eReserve system to support daily work, to maintain the system, and to generate reports. Understand Canvas integration. Help to test upgrades and advise re: enhancements. Ensure baseline readability standards for Reserves' PDFs. Work with Reserves' partners in Digitization to manage workflow and generate best-quality PDFs.

- Utilize learning management systems and eReserves platforms: watch tutorials, participate in training meetings
- Capacity to exercise good judgment and make independent decisions.
- Ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive assignments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience with Adobe applications; Microsoft Office applications; distribution lists; digital devices; library management and resource sharing systems; and bibliographic discovery resources
- Familiarity with academic teaching and research
