We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cost Accountant & Data Analyst to join Oberweis’ accounting department. Do you find yourself always looking for new, creative ways to save money on expenses? The ideal candidate possesses excellent analytical skills and is an expert in assessing financial data. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing budget reports, performing daily maintenance of inventory, and finding creative solutions on financially feasible spending options. Ultimately, they will use their expertise and knowledge to maximize the company’s profitability and the contributions of team members.
Ultimately, you should build updated databases and manage cost information to maximize profitability for our Company.
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday (9-5)
Reports to: Controller
- Maintain cost accounting records related to dairy manufacturing
- Maintain compliance with Federal Milk Market reporting requirements
- Prepare and analyze producer (dairy farmer) payroll procedures and filings
- Maintain and review accuracy of cost accounting standards
- Develop / enhance procedures to ensure the integrity of inventory valuation data
- Assist with month-end and annual physical inventories and general ledger closing procedures
- Perform daily maintenance of AS400 based inventory system
- Perform monthly analysis of cost related account balances
- Assist in the creation of monthly cost related management reports
- Maintain fixed asset system and prepare monthly depreciation entries and reporting
- Assist the Controller and CFO with special projects, as needed
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance, or equivalent with 1 – 2 years of experience
• Experience in the food processing or dairy industry a plus
• Knowledge of Cost Accounting Systems
• Strong Excel background
• Data structures, relational database and query knowledge
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to train teammates
• Basic computer trouble shooting knowledge
