The Cost Accountant supports the Accounting Manager in inventory, general and manufacturing accounting related processes. The Cost Accountant is responsible for the preparation of the weekly and monthly inventory and production for the Fostoria site utilizing MRP systems as designated by the company. In addition, the Cost Accountant supports various other accounting processes like Fixed Assets, Inventory, Standard costing, etc..
Essential Functions:
- Analyzing manufacturing operations, equipment availability and utilization
- Performing month-end cost accounting close
- Maintaining cost accounting system and cost ledger
- Performing life cycle cost-benefit analysis
- Analyzing inventory valuations
- Monitoring unit cost variance
- Implementing cost standards for materials and labor
- Preparing cost of goods sold and production reports
- Reconciling beginning raw materials, work-in-progress and finished-goods stock
- Preparing all inventory-related journal entries at month end
- Defining various product and operational costs
- Developing depreciation schedules
- Assist month-end closing process for payroll, fixed assets, and inventory, including posting manual journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Ability to support other accounting functions and manufacturing sites in a backup role.
- Ability to self-manage to meet deadlines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred) or equivalent
Experience Required: 2+ years of relevabt experience (preferred)
Skills/Abilities: Must be familar with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Excellent analysis skills
Having access to CUI (controlled unclassified information)
Individual must be a Citizen of the United States, or Permanent resident alien of the United States, or Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) (22 CFR §120.15.)
