ANNUAL SALARY: $39,486/year

Under supervision from security commanders, the purpose of this position is to provide assistance and support throughout the adult jail facility to ensure completion of various administrative and technical duties. The employee will work both independently and in collaboration with other staff to complete these duties. This position is focused on fulfillment of certain mandated and regulated tasks that require completion according to established polices, standards, and laws.

Corrections Support Technician is trained to fulfill various supportive roles throughout the facility. After completion of duty specific training, this position is scheduled to complete duties on a daily, weekly, or intermittent basis. Some duties are performed in the presence of, and working directly with, incarcerated inmates under the supervision of security staff. This position does NOT perform any direct supervision of inmates, the daily routine, or respond directly to inmate behavior or conduct violations and therefore does not carry or utilize any weapons or mechanical restraints.

1) Administers prescribed medications to inmates at scheduled times and maintains related medical records. Verifies identity of patient receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms or records. Presents medication to patient and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures. Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.

2) Assists with delivery and pick-up of various materials or supplies from local vendors, providers, and agency partners.

3) Reviews, restocks, and records inventories of medication, supplies, and other documented items that are stored throughout the facility. Ensures that supplies are ordered when necessary.

4) Reviews, organizes, and prepares documentation and materials related to inmate transportation, transfer, and release from custody.

5) Assists with gathering and properly disseminating records to other agencies in accordance with standards and existing statute.

6) Conducts periodic inventory of controlled tools and equipment and documents such activities in the designated logs.

7) Assists with review of invoices from other agencies or providers and assists with updating of inmate accounts for purchases made within the facility.

8) May assist, at times, with operation of security controls for ingress and egress of the facility, monitoring of video surveillance, and control/distribution of security equipment.

Multiple positions of this classification will be used to fill needs on an ongoing basis. Work hours are scheduled between the hours of 8:00 am and 10:00 pm, with hours available 7 days per week, including holidays. Persons assigned to this position will be given established hours on a set work schedule within these hours, and may be assigned to shifts between 8 and 12 hours in duration.

High school diploma or GED required.

Must have the ability to testify in court.

Must have a valid Driver’s License

Must have eyesight correctable to 20/20, and hearing within normal audible range.

Must be able to walk, run, lift, carry, and have sufficient dexterity in both limbs to perform other manual tasks.

Must successfully pass a full background check, including criminal history and credit evaluation.

Must successfully pass psychological screening and assessment.

This position works mostly within a climate-controlled facility, with some duties involving driving a county vehicle in all types of weather. This job does require some lifting and transportation of boxes weighing up to 35 lbs. This job will occasionally require the employee to respond rapidly to a secondary location in response to various emergency situations.

Valid Driver’s License

Certification in CPR, AED, and Naloxone administration (Employer will provide)

Corrections Medical Technician Level 2 (Employer will provide)
