Job Description:
About the Role:
The Corporate Counsel, Contracts/M&A will be responsible for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of agreements partnering with procurement, sales, M&A, and other internal functions. You’ll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:
- Review, analyze, negotiate, draft and approve contracts, licenses, leases, policies, correspondence, and other documents related to sales, procurement, and M&A.
- Proactively engage and work collaboratively with business units to support bid and proposal efforts, track incoming volume and adherence to corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Support and provide solutions for sales teams.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of standard contractual provisions, agreements, and contract templates consistent with applicable corporate policies, strategic goals, laws, and regulations.
- Perform legal research as needed to support business initiatives and to ensure corporate compliance with laws and regulations.
- Assist with creating & revising play books and provide general legal support and guidance to the commercial and procurement departments
Important Details: This is a hybrid position working in the Oak Brook office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with the option to work remote on Mondays and Fridays.
About You:
You’ll fit right in if you have:
- J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in US
- 6+ years of relevant experience in-house managing contracts with large customers in the consumer-packaged goods industry
- Significant experience drafting and negotiating contracts in procurement and sales, such as MSAs, commercial agreements, vendor agreements, NDAs and 3rd party agreements
- Excellent attention to detail, legal research and writing, communication, and project management skills
- Problem-solving skills that demonstrate ability to critically evaluate and analyze issues and recommend well thought-out and/or creative solutions
