    JOB TITLE : Coordinator, College and Career Readiness

    REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Academic Services

    DEFINITION : Provides leadership in directing, organizing, and evaluating programs that promote college and career readiness as they relate to system-wide achievement priorities in The Compass: Our Pathway to Excellence.

    EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
    • Serves as the District Director of AVID, liaison to the College Board, facilitator of early college access programs, and coordinator of school-based mentoring programs.
    • Oversees the implementation of the Baltimore County Teaching and Learning Framework by supporting quality instruction using culturally responsive and data driven practices.
    • Provides leadership in communicating the BCPS college readiness curricular continuum from elementary to high schools.
    • Identifies culturally relevant materials, resources, content, multi-media, and software that support the instructional programs and the needs of a diverse student population.
    • Monitors student participation and progress in rigorous courses (Honors, GT, and AP), the PSAT/SAT testing administrations, and AP exams.
    • Provides leadership to and collaborates with the Offices of English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, School Counseling, and CTE to ensure the infusion of rigorous instruction and college readiness skills across all content areas.
    • Supports teachers of AP Seminar, AP Research, AVID, College and Career Readiness Assessment Preparation, Effective Learning Habits for College and Career Readiness, and other curricula developed and maintained by the Office of CCR.
    • Partners with the Community College of Baltimore County and University of Maryland System Schools to provide students with access to, and support for participation in Early College Access Programs.
    • Maintains and expands partnerships with colleges and universities to increase students’ college awareness experiences.
    • Develops, writes, implements, and evaluates the yearly Office of College and Career Readiness Strategic Plan for Professional Development.
    • Collaborates with the Department of Equity and Cultural Proficiency, school-based Administrators, staff, and community members to provide meaning mentoring experiences for students K-12.
    • Collaborates with the Department of Organizational Development to coordinate and deliver AVID, College Board, Early College Access Programs, and Mentor training for administrators, teachers, school counselors, and other staff.
    • Collaborates with the Department of Instructional Technology, Student Data, and the Department of Research, Accountability, and Assessment in the preparation and delivery of data-driven results reporting.
    • Collaborates with the Office of Communications in conveying the goals of the AVID, College Board, Early College Access programs, and mentoring programs as well as student achievement data results to parents and the community.
    • Establishes and expands partnerships with business to increase students’ college and career readiness skills.
    • Develops and administers operating, capital, grant, and other budgets, and monitors business operations to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources.
    • Supervises professional staff in the implementation of college and career ready programs and initiatives.
    • Maintains personal professional growth for certification and skill standards that are relevant to college and career ready initiatives in K-12 education.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.



    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    Education, Training and Experience:
    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in a field directly related to the assignment; plus five years of progressively responsible leadership/management experience in the field of public education.
    • Five years of successful teaching or related experience is preferred.

    Licenses and Certificates :
    • Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate with an Administrator I endorsement is required.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
    • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public education.
    • Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communications skills.
    • Demonstrated strong leadership, management, and human relations skills.
    • Possession of technology competency (e.g., database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications); skill and experience in data analysis and application.

    PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :
    The work of this class is generally sedentary and performed in an office environment. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional limited physical activities.

    SALARY: Grade 11 on the BCPS CASE 12-month pay scale $103,698 - $151,070.


    This position is eligible for membership in the Maryland State Retirement System.

    Pre-Employment Requirements:
    • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $106. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
    • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
    • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
    • Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
    • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
    • All newly hired personnel must attend a Badges and Benefits session.
    • Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
