Job Summary:
Performs food preparation and production tasks efficiently and accurately under direction of Food service Director. Consistently follows safe food handling policies and procedures, recipes, and plating instructions, etc.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates reliability and conscientiousness in completing assigned tasks.
  • Prepares food according to diet extension recipes and food production sheets.
  • Performs food production work efficiently, while monitoring a neat and sanitary work area.
  • Does not allow unsatisfactory and poor quality food items to be served within the department.
  • Ensures portion control of all items is per standard.
  • Ensures appearance of all food items is per standard.
  • Ensures temperature of all food items is per standard.
  • Ensures that the production/tally sheets are completed without mistakes or shortages.
  • Promptly reports malfunctioning equipment or food shortages to supervisor.
  • Demonstrates the ability to access a situation, offer suggestions and choose an appropriate cause of action to correct a problem.
  • Demonstrates a conscious attitude in daily operations through portion control and reducing waste.
  • Utilized leftovers effectively by creating special and marketable products.
  • Completes all other tasks and related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain standing for most of working hours.
  • Must be able to work within time constraints.
  • Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to withstand extremes in temperatures.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, either early or late.
  • Must be able to work flexible days – week days or weekends.
  • May be exposed to sharp instruments and power driven equipment.
  • May be exposed to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • May be exposed to caustic chemicals.
  • Routine tasks may involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
  • May be in contact with pork products

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full Time. Includes every-other weekend and alternating holidays

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior food production experience, preferably in healthcare facility.
  • Must be able to fulfill all facility hiring practices.
  • A minimum of eighth grade education.
  • Able to read, write and speak English.
  • Perform simple calculations in order to complete assigned duties.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of special diets.
  • Must be able to follow directions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19.77 per hour
