Job Summary: The Controls Technician will be responsible for the development, installation, and maintenance of all production-related electrical control components. It will be the Controls Technician’s duty to cross-train maintenance staff and ensure all communication and pass down information related to controls is properly administered.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
- Assist in troubleshooting controls-related issues on all production equipment when issues arise. This includes liquid processing, packaging, and utility equipment
- Work closely with Production staff, QC, Engineering, IT, and sub-contractors as a cross functional team member to meet all production needs
- Install new control systems including control panel fabrication, wire terminations, and field wiring of instruments
- Manage and maintain cleanliness and wire organization for new and existing controls panels
- Manage and maintain all parts inventory related to controls
- Ensure all work performed on controls equipment is safely and properly executed and recorded
- Develop, track, and implement preventative maintenance, calibrations, and upgrades as required
- Manage all other projects and duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Trade school certification, AA relating to electronics, or equivalent and at least 4 years of experience as an electrician
- Strong working knowledge of mechanics and repair
- A strong understanding of electronics, instrumentation, and PLCs in industrial applications
- Electrical, plumbing, and pipe fitting skills
- Mechanical, assembly, and machining skills
- Must be able to utilize lock out/tag out for machinery
- Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, prints, schematics, operating manuals, and repair manuals
- Highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal training
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and precision
- Strong troubleshooting/problem solving/logic/process of elimination skills
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk for long periods of time, use hands to finger, handle, control, or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to bend or twist their body, climb ladders, scaffolds, or poles. Must be able to kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl and maintain or regain their balance. Employee is regularly required to lift and or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
