The Continuing Education (CE) Manager plays an important role within the Education Department. This role is responsible for oversight of CAPC’s robust, interdisciplinary CE portfolio, including staying abreast of current best practices in continuing education, submitting regular interprofessional CE applications, and providing post activity CE reporting data to accrediting bodies. CAPC currently offers 50+ online clinical education courses for CE and will offer other learning formats including live and enduring virtual events for CE beginning in the second half of 2023.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit applications for CE awards for CAPC learning activities in coordination with the Lead Physician, Nurse, and Social Work planners
  • Communicate with all accrediting bodies regarding application, CE renewal, and post activity reporting/evaluation timelines
  • Track all application and reporting deadlines; provide advance communication to the CE workgroup to facilitate timely submissions and maintain compliance
  • Submit monthly reports of ABIM Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points to Mount Sinai CE Office
  • Submit regular summary evaluation data according to accrediting CE bodies’ required timeframes
  • Handle billing and record keeping for CE-related payments
  • Coordinate with all members of the online course development team to anticipate CE compliance and quality standards for online course materials
  • Coordinate with all members of the virtual events team to anticipate CE compliance for webinars and other live/enduring activities
  • Respond to member needs and inquiries related to CME/MOC and CE
  • Prepare and lead the agenda for the monthly CE workgroup meeting
  • Gather and analyze data, including preparing and creating reports using Salesforce, PowerPoint, Excel, and/or MS Word
  • Create instructional manuals of CE-related processes to facilitate institutional knowledge
  • Host interprofessional CE trainings and instructional sessions for CAPC staff as needed
  • Provide support to CAPC’s Education Team by hosting virtual events (3-5x/month), opening the zoom link and directing members to CAPC resources as the presenter mentions them
  • Track and monitor changes in the CE field and remain abreast of trends and changing guidelines

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience in the Continuing Education field
  • Experience with an accreditation or credentialing organization preferred
  • Experience working with an accredited CE program preferred
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following

o Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Standards, AMA PRA Credit award system, ABIM MOC, Continuing Education theory and learning principles, PARS Reporting

o American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) NCPD Accreditation Criteria

o NARS Reporting

o NASW accreditation experience

  • Ability to prioritize shifting deadlines and manage both breadth and depth of details related to CE for learning activities
  • Must possess excellent communication and writing skills, patience, and flexibility to pivot as needed

  • CAPC is a division of the Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine Department at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
  • Ability to work remotely
  • Must be comfortable with occasional travel, including annual all-staff retreat in New York City and industry-related conferences as applicable.

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $66,949.79 - $103,882.78 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
