Consumer Real Estate Originator - Westmoreland County Job at Somerset Trust Company
SUMMARY
An Originator is responsible for originating consumer real estate products through internal and external referral sources. The main focus will be on developing relationships with customers, realtors, builders, other lenders and offer the highest quality of customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Managing customers through the entire loan process from data collection and analysis through loan conclusion; and maintaining positive client relationship.
- Responsible for generating new loan applications in the designated lending areas by working with lenders in that area and for achieving loan origination goals. Develop plan with each lender in area.
- Travel to designated areas to meet with customers and lenders.
- Interview and conduct meetings with loan customers and complete the loan origination process.
- Establish relationships with realtors, builders and other business relationships that will result in new loan growth.
- Responsible to obtain all required loan documents.
- Ability to discuss Somerset Trust Company consumer and mortgage loan products and recommend solutions to prospective customers.
- Analyses applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan.
- Corresponds with or interview applicant or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.
- Meeting with prospective customers and referral sources concerning all consumer real estate loan processing and documentation.
- Develops new external referrals sources to attract new consumer real estate business.
- Externally making necessary contacts with new and existing borrowers to originate loans at customer’s place of business or appropriate branch locations.
- Meet with managers/lenders on a quarterly basis at their office to discuss issues/goals, etc. and continue to train/mentor in real estate lending.
- Meet with the Consumer Lending Lead Officer on a quarterly basis to review status of targeted goals, discuss issues, strategic planning, etc.
- Obtain and refer additional consumer products back to the branches each month.
- Review declined loan applications for possible real estate secured lending.
- Attend the Managers meetings on a regular basis.
- Assist Mortgage Originators as needed.
- Assumes additional duties/responsibilities as required.
- Maintains current knowledge of and adheres to the BSA policy.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of two years as a consumer/mortgage loan originator or equivalent work experience in originating consumer/mortgage loans.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Ability to operate a personal computer and job-related software. (Word, Excel, Encompass, Core Operating System (OSI)) Must be willing to learn new systems and not have any issues with emerging technology.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent oral communication and writing skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret various documents such as procedure manuals, Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Possesses good organization skills, the ability to read and interpret reports, and works quickly and efficiently while providing the utmost accuracy and attention to detail and customer service.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rates, discounts, interest, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to negotiate and demonstrate flexibility with meeting customer’s needs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Desire to understand and utilize systems to their utmost capabilities. Must be team oriented and able to work well with others in the department.
