The position of Project Manager is a key role in the execution of our projects. The following job description is an overview of the duties and responsibilities for this position that must be executed for our project’s success. Daily attention to detail is a needed tool for all our superintendents.

Job Description

Construction project managers control the time, cost, and quality of construction projects. They plan and coordinate many aspects of the construction process, including hiring contractors, working with engineers, architects, and vendors.

Duties

Determining the scheduling of different phases of a project based on established deadlines. The securing of building permits and licenses and delivery of materials and equipment to construction sites also might be issues that must be addressed initially.

As a project continues, project managers confer with supervisors and Project Engineers to monitor construction progress, including worker productivity and compliance with building and safety codes. Because they must ensure that a project is completed according to schedule, Project managers must resolve problems that arise due to inclement weather, emergencies, or other issues that may cause delays before they happen.

Project Manager’s Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Daily communication with field personnel (follow the SOP)
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within the scope, and within budget.
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Report and escalate to management as needed.
  • Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors/subcontractors.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Select appropriate construction methods and strategies.
  • Interpret and explain contracts and technical information to workers and other professionals.
  • Report on work progress and budget matters to owners.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other construction and building specialists
  • Instruct and supervise construction personnel and activities onsite.
  • Respond to work delays and other problems and emergencies.
  • Select, hire and instruct laborers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, building and safety codes, and other regulations.

Project managers work full time. However, the need to meet deadlines and to respond to delays and emergencies often requires long hours. This position will be on call 24/7.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Construction Project Management (Preferred)
  • Previous experience in Project Management (1-2yrs minimum)
  • Higher than average work ethic

  • Be able to work independently while taking direction from management
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Procore
  • Valid Driver’s License
