Construction Assistant Project Manager (Mid-level), Full-Time, Wausau, WI


Position Summary:

  • Assist in the preparation of and review project cost codes, budgets, cash flow reports and production units for the project.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs and ASIs (all change orders) for coordination and implementation of project requirements.
  • Prepare letters of intent with trade contractors.
  • Assist in managing the trade contract process.
  • Ensure a timely submittal process by reviewing project changes by the owner and trade contractors.
  • Thoroughly comprehend project plans, specifications, and details throughout project duration.
  • Attend weekly site progress meetings held with the project manager, owner, architect, and key trade contractors.
  • Prepare, for review, monthly pay applications to Owner.
  • Collect, in accordance with the contract, invoiced project amounts due from the owner to achieve management of the project’s cash flow.
  • Assist project manager with reviewing and controlling project costs.
  • Review, for approval, trade contractor/supplier payment applications.
  • Assist in collecting supplier and trade contractor lien waivers to ensure payments are properly disbursed.
  • Communicate field/office policies, instructions, and procedures to all project personnel - including trade contractor personnel.
  • Attend project estimate review, start-up, monthly interim, and close-out meetings.
  • Generate meeting minutes within one week of the meeting conclusion in collaboration with the project manager.
  • Update project logs (i.e., shop drawings, RFI, ASI, OCO, etc.) prior to every progress meeting.
  • Support the project manager and superintendent in adhering to the schedule for early project closeout and final acceptance by the owner.
  • Assist in preparing the final written analysis on project profitability, profit enhancers, profit busters and project problems for discussion in the closeout meeting and the permanent project records.
  • Assist in preparing project cost report for inclusion into company historical database within a CSI format and breakdown established by company standards for project type.

* * Experience in Microsoft Office, P6 Professional, Primavera Contract Management, Procore, or alike is desired. * *


Position Requirements:

  • Associate degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, trade school, comparable training or the equivalent combination with 1-3 years of relevant work experience in the construction industry.
  • Construction field knowledge desired.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate safety standards.
  • Ability to recognize and achieve high quality construction standards and project performance.
