Compensation Specialist to join our team. As a member of the Human Resources Team, the Compensation Specialist is responsible assisting in the development, implementation, and administration of compensation plans to attract, retain and engage employees.
Position responsibilities:
- Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.
- Defines equitable, competitive, and fair compensation and benefits packages that fit and are also in accordance with the business goals and strategies.
- Develops consistent compensation policies in accordance with the organizational objectives and work culture.
- Recommends job classifications and manages the integrity across entire population to ensure compensation practices are in compliance with current regulations in all markets.
- Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.
- Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position. Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
- Builds exceptional relationships with managers of all organizational levels to review and understand the job functions and department organizations.
- Conducts different surveys for the purpose of determining benefits and pay rates.
- Conducts annual benchmarking cycles; analyze and assess market data, industry trends, and best practices to create market competitive programs. Develop and adjust salary ranges as needed. Includes ensuring pay equity.
- Partner with HR team members to provide compensation and consulting services. Reinforcing the company’s overall compensation philosophy with all recommendations made.
Position requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related discipline (e.g., compensation administration, design and strategy or another related field). At least 3 years of Compensation and/or Human Resources Generalist experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential is preferred, but not required for this role. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) is preferred, but not required for this role.
- Strong experience with benefits and compensation modules in ADP or another HRIS equivalent system.
- Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint); must be highly proficient with Excel.
- Skill in entering, obtaining, and manipulating data using computer databases.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations including but not limited to ERISA, COBRA, ACA, IRS, DOL, Title 7, ADA, FMLA, FLSA and ability to apply to workplace situations.
- Experience with job analysis and job evaluation systems. Experience of conducting labor market and organizational psychology surveys.
- Familiarity with current labor rules/regulations. Familiarity with different kinds of benefits and incentives.
- Analytical skills: ability to perform detailed analysis, interpret results, and then recommend and implement measures to meet business needs.
- Problem-solving skills: listening to, interpreting, and meeting the needs of others; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; diagnosing and rectifying problems.
- Project management skills: establishing objectives, timelines and deadlines; action planning to meet deadlines; evaluating current and future positions and taking corrective action as necessary.
