Position Description
Job Summary:
The compensation and benefits (C&B) manager is responsible for managing the compensation and benefits function by reviewing, developing and implementing the “total rewards” strategy for employees and managers consistently. The C&B Manager plans, develops, and communicates new and revised compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures to align with the company's goals and competitive practices. This position is also responsible for ensuring that company benefits are consistently administered in compliance with regulations. The C&B Manager reports to the VP of HR.
Essential Functions:
1. Ownership and Caring. Provides leadership and guidance on all company compensation programs including annual salary planning, merit increases, salary structures, variable pay and other incentive programs to ensure alignment to company goals and budget.
2. Measurement. Benchmarks and assesses C&B competitiveness through salary and benefits survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development and incentive plan design.
3. Respect and Engage. Effectively partners with HRBP’s and Talent Acquisition, who are front facing to internal leaders for attracting, promoting and retaining talent.
4. Partners with HRBP’s to ensure correlation between compensation and performance management to ensure talent is competitively compensated in line with compensation strategy and philosophy.
5. Compulsive Tinkering. Researches, evaluates, and identifies opportunities to improve or change current benefit offerings to ensure alignment with HR strategy, Peckham’s “Family by Choice” culture, and external competitiveness.
6. Transparency and Learning. Advises leadership on applicable federal, state, and local employment regulations that impact benefits, leave, compensation policies, and ensures all plans remain compliant. Responsible for overseeing all company leave of absence programs.
7. Leads Open Enrollment for the company and facilitates ease of benefits selection for employees.
8. Manages relationships between consultants, administrative vendors, and insurance carriers. Knowledgeable of health and welfare plans, especially self-insured health plans, Safe Harbor 401K plan administration.
9. Obligated. Responsible for ensuring company compliance in required training and benefits administration e.g., completion of required annual training (such as Sexual Harassment, Cybersecurity), MOTUS vehicle program, and service awards program.
10. Communicate. Implements an employee outreach calendar at operating facilities for educating and promoting employee wellbeing.
11. Ensures compensation and benefits data is current and accurate in HRIS and can provide automated data feeds to 3rd party benefits administrators for auto enrollment and stoppage.
12. Establish, and maintain dashboards to measure key compensation, benefits, and engagement data and identify trends and prepare reports as necessary for Board of Directors and the executive leadership.
Position Requirements
Requirements, Education and Experience:
1. Experience in Human Resources and preferably a degree in Human Resources or Business.
2. Knowledge of State and Federal wage and hour laws including FLSA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Workers Compensation, Medicare, HIPAA, and social security and DOL requirements.
3. 10 years of progressive HR experience. HR Manager experience would be advantageous.
4. Experience working with ERP/HRIS systems and developing and maintaining C&B configuration.
5. Proficient user of Microsoft products, e.g., Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word
6. Protects and maintains sensitive and confidential information.
7. Professional verbal and written English communication skills
8. Ability to present analysis succinctly to HRBP’s, managers and executives.
9. Be an approachable and thoughtful partner, facilitates decision making.
10. Ability to work independently, highly organized and effective time management.

Travel:
Position may require up to 20% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York, and New England based on the needs of the business.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
This job operates in an office and professional environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers. On occasion the job will require going out in the field and various organizations and schools/institutions. This is mostly sedentary outside of travel in an office space. This would require the ability to sit at a desk, frequent walking, bending or standing as necessary.
