SEH is currently searching for a talented Community Development Specialist to join our team in our La Crosse or Chippewa Falls, WI location!
The Community and Economic Development team at SEH focuses on helping communities become the places where businesses thrive and people live their best lives. This team believes that successful development should be community-minded and benefit everyone. Using a comprehensive approach, this talented group considers land use planning, engineering, and environmental factors and helps clients identify and secure funding ensuring visions become reality.

What you will be doing:
- Assists municipal clients with needs assessment processes and prepare applications for funding, including on focus on public infrastructure needs.
- Assist municipal clients with the administration of successfully funded projects.
- Organize and track projects requiring funding, as well as local, state, federal funding sources.
- Assist with the preparation of plans for communities (i.e., comprehensive plans, strategic plans, redevelopment plans), economic development tools (i.e., tax incremental financing) and work with governmental agencies to implement recommendations from the plan
Required Qualifications:
- One (1) year of experience in urban/regional planning, working with local, state, and federal funding sources
- Demonstrated history of successful grant writing
- Experience with community and economic development activities
- Strong written communication skills for report writing and correspondence to clients
- Capable verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of clients and team members.
- Experience with GIS mapping
- Must reside in La Crosse or Chippewa Falls, WI or surrounding areas
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of experience in urban/regional planning, working with local, state, and federal funding sources
- Knowledge of urban/regional planning
- Work part time from any SEH office in Wisconsin, preference to La Crosse, Chippewa Falls, New Richmond, or Rice Lake SEH office. Remainder of the work week can be done remotely.
