Commodity Manager Job at VSP Global
The Commodity Manager will conduct strategic sourcing actions, contract preparation, and contract execution for assigned expenditure categories and projects. proactively build positive strategic relationships with all company-wide groups which have procurement requirements in their assigned spend categories.
Proactively plan and execute strategic sourcing functions for expenditure categories assigned by the Manager of Corporate Procurement. Strategic sourcing includes expenditure analysis; cross-functional team formation & management; RFx development & administration; proposal analysis; negotiations, and contract formation/execution.
Draft commercial contract terms for incorporation into template agreements pre-approved by the legal department. They will act as a liaison to the legal department on non-standard contracting actions, assisting in the development and execution of written agreements.
Ensuring supplier relationships are established, implemented, and managed in the most optimal manner.
Proactively reach out to business partners to ensure Corporate Procurement is strategically-involved in leading supplier selection and management sourcing activities through involvement in staff meetings, business planning, and forecasting.
Ensure all Request-for-Information, Request-for-Quotation, Request-for-Proposal, and Auction sourcing activities within assigned responsibility (all, “RFx”) are properly recorded and administered.
Ensure all contracting activities and documents (including agreements, riders, amendments, statements-of-work, and insurance certificates) within assigned responsibility are properly prepared, recorded, and administered.
Adhere to the highest ethical standards in representing the interests of the VSP global enterprise in procurement matters.
Job Specifications
Typically has the following skills or abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Supply Management or equivalent experience
4+ years experience conducting strategic sourcing and contracting activities for one or more of the following: Information Technology, Professional Services, General Services, Marketing & Advertising, Printing, Property Management, Office Products, Medical and/or Laboratory Supplies
4+ years of working knowledge of procurement contract law
4+ years of experience drafting commercial terms of contract documents
Strong influence and communication skills at the middle-management level
Proven history of delivering procurement cost savings
Experience with eSourcing and Contract Management technology tools
Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties.
