Position Title: Commodity Manager

Location: Dallas/Addison, TX

Reports To: Director of Supply Chain

Seeking a Commodity Manager who will be responsible for, but not limited to, identifying and locating materials for the manufacture of Highway Safety Products. This will include Supplier qualification, material sourcing, cost negotiating, contract management, supplier management and supplier/commodity strategies.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop Commodity strategies
  • Act as a key account manager (KAM) for the strategic suppliers
  • Build up a SMI system (Supply Market Intelligence )
  • Ensure the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership ) is most competitive in the supply market
  • Drive the quality performance and Continuous Improvement of suppliers
  • Scrutinize the current supply market, build a strong supplier base to support business strategy
  • Reduce the materials lead/time and minimize the inventory level
  • Maintain and develop the relationship with strategic suppliers
  • Organize Quarterly Business Reviews with key suppliers
  • Formulate, optimize and execute the Commodity Strategy
  • Ensure capacity availability from key suppliers
  • Conduct supplier risk analysis and mitigate the supply risk
  • Drive the sustainability issues with key suppliersh law
  • Drive the sustainability issues with key suppliers
  • Initiate and execute Supplier Certification Program
  • Develop/manage special project with key suppliers , such as VMI project, e-procurement project , Ship-To-Stock project etc.
  • Maintain supplier and costing information in ERP system as necessary

The Person:

A Bachelor degree (preferred), with heavy industrial, metal manufacturing/fabrication or experience in the steel and/or fastener industries. 3-5+ years of commodity or purchasing management experience preferred.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant working experience in sourcing or commodity management , with experience in heavy industrial, metal manufacturing/fabrication / steel and or fastener industry. Applicants with 8-10 years’ experience and a High School diploma will be considered.
  • Possess sufficient knowledge and skills to source ,select , develop suppliers
  • Proficient in build-up and development of relationship with all stakeholders , at all levels , internally and externally
  • Strong project management experience
  • High capability in cost-structure analysis , data-sensitive
  • Excellent teamwork and leadership skills
  • Be willing to work in an office environment
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and under a fast pace environment , initiative and adapt to multi-tasking situation
  • Dynamic, proactive and able to work under pressure and deliver result independently;
  • Excellent communication skills and able to win support from others; Ability to critically evaluate issues and troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Working and usage knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge and experience in an MRP system
  • Willing and able to travel as required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
